HO HO HO

Well, I missed the Pancake Breakfast at CSS, but they were serving at Halfmoon Bay Elementary.  I feel bad that school was cancelled today, as many of us were looking forward to the Annual CSS Christmas Talent Show- hopefully we can reschedule this for early in the New Year.

I want  to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and I wish you the joy of the season.  Enjoy the break and be safe.

See you in the New Year.

Peer Tutors with Attitude

Our Peer Tutors provide a lot of support to the PE program, particularly during the Dance Unit.  The Hip Hop attitude was pretty obvious when I stopped by the gym this afternoon.

Thanks to all the peer tutors who provide support in our classes-- you are awesome.

It's time to call it a week and get some R & R.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Powered Skooter & Girls' Senior BBall Team Stumbles at Sutherland

The prototype needs some work, but the students in the metal shop are working on some interesting projects.

It was a tough 61-40 loss to Sutherland last night for the Senior Girls' Basketball Team.  They fell short but still represented CSS well.

Thank you ladies and thanks to Ms. Bari McDonell for driving the van! Having to catch the last ferry made for a long day.

Free the Children & Dancing Continued

Guest speakers from the Free the Children organization, Alex and Andy pose with some of our leadership students who attended the afternoon workshop held in the CSS Library.  Alex and Andy also did a presentation with all of our grade 9 & 10 students and they spoke a lot about community building and actions that can be taken to enhance our local community as well as the global community. They also did a smaller workshop before lunch, as well.  The presentation and workshops were sponsored by Telus.  The feedback that I got was very positive.
Mr. Mani overseeing some line dancers.
Mr. Scarr and a student demonstrating a dosi-do.  Well done.

Have a good night everyone.

The dance unit continues to be popular. We even have students requesting to go to the gym once they have completed their academic assignments.  It is great to see the high level of enthusiasm.

New Math Technology Coming

We had a presentation on the nspire cx Handheld calculator last night.

The question arose--How can we even the playing field for the senior Math program?  The answer....  Bluetooth technology for a class set of the Nspire cx calculators .  The nice thing about this technology is that it allows for ongoing formative assessment for students and all students will be  able to access the technology if we have a class set.

I attended the PAC Meeting after the presentation and Mr. Campbell came in and spoke about the calculator and the benefits it offers. The response was extremely favourable and the PAC is helping us financially so we can purchase a class set. Thank you!!!!

Have a good day.
