Concert Band-- Class Outside the Timetable

Mr. Kellough, our new band teacher, was putting the Concert Band through their paces this afternoon after school. The students sounded pretty good for their first day-- well done!

Have a good evening.

Grade 8 Orientation Today

As part of our Grade 8 Orientation today, Sechelt Nation Drummer & Singer, Andy Johnson, welcomed our students with a traditional welcome song.  He also taught us how to say Chatelech correctly (chot- lay- ch), which is the outer water (Georgia Strait).

Our Community School Coordinator, Sue Lamb, our Leadership students and several of our teachers helped make this an excellent event.  Thanks to our volunteers!

Have a good afternoon.

Great to be Back!

It is great to be back at school with our staff and students. Despite some issues with some student schedules, things are going well.

Everyone seems to be thrilled to be back and the school has a great feel.

Tomorrow we have our Grade 8 Orientation C Block and into lunch.  Lunch will be provided for all of our grade 8 students.

Have a great evening!

Community Services 40th Anniversary

I attended the 40th anniversary celebration of Community Services this past Thursday. Sechelt Nation members sang a welcome song to start things off.
Telus donated $40,000 on this their 40th anniversary. What an awesome gesture for a great cause.

Hopeful and Optimistic

I heard that Vince Ready, Jim Iker and Peter Fassbender were meeting again this afternoon to continue talks about a possible resolution to the teachers' strike.

We are all hoping for a negotiated resolution to this so we can get back to the business of educating  our students.  I do hope that students take advantage of some of the resources that are being offered to you  on line.  The ERAC Bundle, which  we just received today, is an outstanding resource that some of you may wish to look at.

I do hope that everyone is keeping their spirits up during this challenging time.

Have great weekend everyone!

Blackberry Season Almost Done

We are fortunate to have an abundance of blackberries here on the Sunshine Coast. As the summer ends the blackberry season approaches its end. There are still some good ones left for those willing to fight the prickles!
