Concert Band Preparing for Remembrance Day Assembly

Our Concert Band was preparing for Remembrance Day Assembly when I stopped by after school today. The Grade 8 Band has class inside the timetable, while the Concert and Jazz Band classes are after school, outside the timetable.

I appreciate the effort that our students make attending classes outside the timetable.  Our Yearbook class is another class that students take, after school and outside the timetable.

Both of these classes provide something special to Chatelech Secondary School.  Thanks to our teachers, Mr. Kellough, our music teacher and Mr. Mani, our Yearbook teacher-- they both do a great job providing our students with learning opportunities outside of the timetable.

Have a great evening everyone.

Frozen T-shirt Contest

Our Leadership class had a frozen T-shirt Contest at lunch the other day.  Our French teacher, Mr. Mocellin, used his experience to change the molecular structure by using his brute force which facilitating him being able to put on the frozen shirt before any students were able to.

Well done Mr. Mo!!

Be Bear Aware

As we get into autumn I just want to remind our school community to be "Bear Aware."  Our students are usually well versed in the ways to be bear aware, but I just wanted you to be alert that our local bears are preparing for their winter slumber.  Keeping garbage inside and not putting trash cans out until the day of pick-up is key.  If you are out for a hike and you approach a bear, take an alternative route.  I have included a message found on the Great Bear Aware.

Welcome to . . .

Get Bear Aware
Sow With Two Cubs
A fed bear is a dead bear. Most people are not aware of their role in the destruction of bears. If humans allow bears to access non-natural food sources such as garbage, they help to create "problem" bears. In most cases, "problem" bears must be destroyed because they damage property and are a potential threat to human safety.

 Have a good evening.
